We are delighted to bring you our expanded programme in the Sine Saloum Delta. This is one of the most beautiful regions of Senegal, situated approximately 200km south of Dakar, which consists of a maze of islands, lagoons, mangroves, forest and salt water creeks. It encompasses the Saloum Delta National Park, which was created in 1976 and is Senegal's second largest national park, stretching over an area of 76,000 hectares.
The Sine Saloum Delta is home to a stunning variety of birds, such as flamingos, pelicans, herons, gulls, terns, egrets and avocets, 36 mammal species such as warthogs, hyenas, monkeys, baboons, manatees and dolphins, and many types of fish and sea turtles. With so much to offer, it is becoming increasingly popular with holidaymakers, birdwatchers and fishermen.
As many of the ethnic groups of The Gambia and Senegal are related, so are their culture and traditions. The people in Senegal are as welcoming and friendly as their Gambian cousins but as tourism in this region is not as developed you do not find the bumsters you may come across on the Gambian coast. As Senegal was a French colony, French is more widely spoken than English. Our Senegal programme would suit our more adventurous clients, as the journey to get there can be arduous. We currently do not have any representatives in Senegal although we work closely with the hotels to ensure our guests are well looked after.
With an ever-shining sun, beautiful scenery, a relaxed pace of life and excellent hospitality, Senegal is just waiting to be enjoyed.
