Important Baggage Information

Hand Baggage Size

The maximum size for items of hand luggage is 56cm x 45cm x 25cm per bag, including wheels, handles and external pockets. However, airlines apply their own operational policies governing the size, weight and number of hand baggage items which may be taken in to the aircraft cabin.

Hand Baggage Weight

The maximum hand baggage weight generally ranges between 5 &10 kgs per person. This is dependant on the baggage policy of each individual airline.

Baggage Allowance

Your total baggage allowance is 25kgs per person (a figure exclusive to Gambia Flights), unless travelling in Premium Class with Monarch Airlines, in which case you can take 30kg per person. Anyone booking a budget price will have an automatic allowance of 15kg per person with the option to upgrade to 25kg for a supplement.

You will be advised during the online booking process of you baggage allowance and this will also be indicated on your ticket.

Excess baggage

The airlines that are used by Gambiaflights.co.uk have become very strict about baggage allowance owing to the high number of requests they receive and will now only consider limited requests from registered charities.

If you are carrying more than your allocated amount you will have to pay an excess baggage charge (typically £10-15 per extra kilo) at check-in, although we cannot guarantee that the airline will accept all your baggage.

If you are unable to carry items in your usual baggage allowance, we recommend you call our administration department on 0845 330 2044 who will be happy to provide details for sending goods by freight.

Upgrading to Premium Class (subject to availability from London Gatwick) or one of our Flexible Ticket would benefit you with an increased baggage allowance.
